Guinevere L. Nell

Guinevere Liberty Nell est une auteure libertarienne américaine dont les écrits sont fortement influencés par l'école autrichienne d'économie. Elle est née le 4 juillet 1976, soit le jour du bicentenaire de l'indépendance américaine d'où le choix de son deuxième prénom. Guinevere L. Nell a grandi à New York et elle est devenue une programmeuse affirmée. Elle a travaillé pendant cinq ans à la Heritage Foundation, gérant les données informatiques et économiques pour leur modèle d'impôt sur le revenu individuel.

Elle s'est passionnée pour la science et l'histoire économique. Elle a écrit plusieurs livres et articles sur l'histoire économique soviétique, sur l'ordre spontané, sur l'école autrichienne d'économie, et sur la politique économique. Ses analyses portent à croire qu'elle pencherait vers un libéralisme de gauche et serait favorable sans doute à un socialisme de marché en raison d'externalités émergentes du marché : exploitation des travailleurs, problèmes écologiques, inégalité des richesses.

Dans l'introduction de la collection d'articles qu'elle dirige sur la théorie économique et l'organisation économique, Guinevere Nell (2014) applaudit les chercheurs autrichiens pour leurs contributions remarquables à l'économie. Cependant, selon elle, les Autrichiens contemporains sont trop souvent motivés - et contraints - par la recherche de conclusions sur le libre marché, ce qui les conduit à négliger à la fois les problèmes des marchés non réglementés et la promesse d'autres formes d'organisation. Pour remédier à cette myopie, les différents contributeurs du livre (Randall Holcombe, Per Bylund, Daniel Kuehn, Caleb Miles, Edward Stringham, Kevin Carson, Gus diZerega, Andrew Cumbers, Guinevere L. Nell) tentent d'appliquer la théorie autrichienne en dehors des « limites du libre marché » ("ordre spontané", "Hiérarchie vs organisation", "illégitimité de l’État dans la structuration des organisations", "calcul économique et planification").
