Musique d'inspiration libérale

De même qu'il existe un cinéma d'inspiration libérale, la musique a été influencée par les valeurs libérales et les paroles de nombreuses chansons véhiculent, de façon revendiquée ou non, ce même message. Il existe une large liste d'oeuvres de musique d'inspiration libérale.

Ainsi, Florent Pagny, expatrié en Patagonie, défend dans ses chansons la résistance face à l'oppression fiscale ou la liberté de pensée[1]. La résistance au fisc avait déjà été défendue avant par exemple par les Beatles dans Taxman. Cette chanson de George Harrison est sortie en 1966 sur l'album Revolver. Elle naquit de la prise de conscience par les membres du groupe qu'ils étaient taxés au taux maximal de 96%... Harrison déclara ainsi : « J’ai écrit Taxman quand j’ai réalisé pour la première fois que même si nous commencions à gagner de l’argent, nous en perdions en fait la majorité en taxes. C’était, et c’est toujours typique »[2]. Plus proche de nous, Les Inconnus avec leur Rap'tout Vampire s'opposent au fisc, avec ces paroles bien connues[3] :
