Chris Matthew Sciabarra

Chris Matthew Sciabarra est né à Brooklyn, à New York le 17 Février 1960. Il est l'auteur de la dialectique et de la trilogie de la liberté qui a commencé avec "Marx, Hayek, et utopie", puis "Ayn Rand: La Russe radicale", et se termine par "Totale liberté: Vers une dialectique Libertarienne". Il a co-écrit avec Mimi Reisel Gladstein des interprétations féministes de Ayn Rand, et il est co-fondateur du Journal des études sur Ayn Rand. Il est également l'auteur de deux monographies: "Ayn Rand: sa vie et sa pensée" et de "Ayn Rand, l'homosexualité, et la libération de l'homme". En 2003, il fut nommé rédacteur adjoint pour The Free Radical. Il est chercheur au Département de sciences politiques à l'Université de New York depuis Janvier 1989.

Il est diplômé de l'Université de New York (en Juin 1981, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, avec un BA en histoire (avec mention). Il a soutenu une thèse en histoire (sous la direction de Daniel Walkowitz, "Les conséquences de l'interventionnisme: Analyse des Grèves des Pullman"). Il a obtenu sa maîtrise en science politique (avec une spécialisation en théorie politique) en 1983. Son mémoire fut dirigé par Bertell Ollman et Israel Kirzner en Juin 1982, et fut intitulé, "Les repères méthodologiques dans l'intégration: la dialectique, la praxéologie et leurs implications". En Juin 1988, il a obtenu son doctorat avec distinction en philosophie politique, la théorie et la méthodologie. Sa thèse, soutenue avec distinction au printemps 1988, fut réalisée sous la direction de Bertell Ollman, intitulée «Vers une critique radicale de l'utopie: Dialectique et Dualisme dans les travaux de Friedrich Hayek, Murray Rothbard, et Karl Marx."
