Sheldon Richman est rédacteur en chef de la revue The Freeman, éditée par la Foundation for Economic Education à Irvington, dans l'État de New York. Il est également chercheur senior au think tank Future of Freedom Foundation. C'est un ancien journaliste et ancien chercheur au Cato Institute, il est diplômé de l'université de Temple à Philadelphie. Il travaille régulièrement avec Jacob G. Hornberger et Richard M. Ebeling. Il est également l'auteur de plusieurs livres dont Separating School & State(1994) où il analyse les échecs de l'école publique et de l'enseignement obligatoire aux états-unis, Your Money or Your Life : Why We Must Abolish the Income Tax (1999) et encore Tethered Citizens: Time to Repeal the Welfare State (2001).
