Fred E. Foldvary

Fred Emanuel Foldvary est né le 11 mai 1946. C'est un économiste, diplômé de l'université de Californie à Berkeley (B. A), plus un M.A. et un Ph.D. en économie de l'université George Mason. Il a enseigné l'économie à l'université agricole de Latvian, à Virginia Tech, à l'université John F. Kennedy, à l'univeristé d'État de Hayward.
Fred Foldvary enseigne actuellement l'économie à l'université de Santa Clara en Californie. Il est également chercheur à l'Independent Institute. Il participe à l'enrichissement éditorial du journal en ligne "The Progress Report" ainsi que de la revue Econ Journal Watch.
Dans sa thèse défendue en 1992 à l'univeristé George Mason, "Public Goods and Private Communities", il applique la théorie des biens publics à l'organisation industrielle pour réfuter le concept d'échec du marché. S'appuyant sur la théorie des clubs, il présente des exemples de communautés privées qui fournissent des biens publics.
Il est un inconditionnel des théories de Henry George, des libertés civiles et du libre marché l'apparentant au mouvement des georgistes. Ses domaines concernent les sujets fonciers économiques et fiscaux, la protection de l'environnement, la démocratie cellulaire (le vote dans des petits groupes) et l'éthique universelle.
