Anthony R. Lupo est professeur de sciences de l'atmosphères à l'université du Missouri. Il a également travaillé avec l'académie des sciences russe en 2003-2004.

Il estime que l'ampleur du réchauffement climatique actuel ou futur est exagérée par les écologistes. Il insiste sur l'absence de lien scientifique entre l'activité humaine et ce phénomène. Si l'homme a une influence, elle explique moins de 10% du réchauffement selon lui, les phénomènes naturels comme l'activité solaire expliquant le reste.

Comme il le rappelle, le climat a évolué fortement à travers les siècles dans le passé, indépendamment de toute action humaine. Les températures actuelles restent ainsi inférieures ou égales à ce qu'elles étaient il y a un millénaire. La compréhension que les scientifiques peuvent avoir du fonctionnement du climat est très incomplète et la communauté scientifique bien loin de tout consensus sur le sujet.

Il est titulaire d'un Ph.D. en sciences de l'atmosphère, obtenu en 1995 à Purdue University. Il est membre de l'American Meteorology Society et de la Royal Meteorological Society. Il est l'auteur de nombreux articles académiques.
