Jörg Guido Hülsmann (né le 18 mai 1966) est un économiste et professeur d'université, né en Allemagne. Il est membre de l'école autrichienne. Libéral et scientifique, il fait partie du bureau éditorial du Journal of Libertarian Studies. Il enseigne à la Faculté de Droit, d'Économie et de Gestion de l'Université d'Angers. Par ailleurs, il est Senior Fellow au Mises Institute.

Œuvre

Ses travaux portent sur plusieurs thèmes: l'histoire de la pensée économique et du libéralisme, la théorie monétaire, la relation entre économie et religion.

En 1996, il a ainsi publié Logik der Währungskonkurrenz (Logique de la concurrence monétaire). Il y développe une thèse opposée à celle de Friedrich von Hayek. Ce dernier estimait que la concurrence était possible entre devises étatiques et non-étatiques. Pour Hülsmann, une telle concurrence n'est pas viable.

Par ailleurs, dans ses récentes recherches, il s'est intéressé à l'analyse contrefactuelle de l'économie. On lui doit également de nombreux articles parus tant dans le Journal of Libertarian Studies que dans le Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics.
