Jörg Guido Hülsmann (né le 18 mai 1966) est un économiste et professeur d'université allemand, membre de l'école autrichienne. Il enseigne à la Faculté de Droit, d'Économie et de Gestion de l'Université d'Angers. Par ailleurs, il est Senior Fellow au Mises Institute.

Œuvre

Ses travaux portent sur plusieurs thèmes: l'histoire de la pensée économique et du libéralisme, la théorie monétaire, la relation entre économie et religion.

En 1996, il a ainsi publié Logik der Währungskonkurrenz (Logique de la concurrence monétaire). Il y développe une thèse opposée à celle de Friedrich von Hayek. Ce dernier estimait que la concurrence était possible entre devises étatiques et non-étatiques. Pour Hülsmann, une telle concurrence n'est pas viable.

Par ailleurs, dans ses récentes recherches, il s'est intéressé à l'analyse contrefactuelle de l'économie. On lui doit également de nombreux articles parus tant dans le Journal of Libertarian Studies que dans le Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics.
