Sylvester Petro

Sylvester Joseph Petro est né en 1917, fils d'une famille immigrant à Chicago. Il est décédé le 10 novembre 2007 à Roswell dans l'Etat de Géorgie, aux USA. Il était enseignant, chercheur et défenseur de la liberté. Il fut diplômé de l'université de Chicago (B.A. : Bachelor of Arts et doctorat en Droit), puis il continua ses études de Droit à l'université du Michigan. Il enseigna le droit du travail à l'université de New York de 1950 à 1972. En 1973, il se déplace à Winston Salem, en Caroline du Nord et enseigna le droit du Travail à l'université de Wake Forest Law School jusqu'au début des années 1990. Il fut également directeur de l'Institut d'Analyse Juridique et Politique.

Il a écrit de nombreux livres et articles, The Labor Policy of the Free Society, The Kohler Strike, The Kingsport Press Strike. Il fut le fondateur du parti conservateur de New York dans les années 1950, chercheur à la Foundation for Economic Education et membre de la société du Mont Pèlerin.
